Introducing Opilio snow crab's behemoth cousin: Bairdi. This succulent crab is our most-requested snow crab, and is larger than - but just as flavorful as it's popular relative, Opilio crab. Succulent, sweet, and flavorful, these spectacular-sized legs & claws are full of flavorful & delicate crab meat.
Snow crab legs arrive in cluster form. (The legs and a claw are attached, in a “cluster”.) Note that sometimes partial clusters, or single legs are included, to facilitate packing the quantity that is ordered.
*Note: Snow crab can be prone to breakage during shipping. As a policy - we do not pack broken pieces, and we do pack it carefully, but please be aware that Shrimpboxx.com is not responsible for any breakage that occurs during shipping.
Our Bairdi snow crab clusters average about 2/3 to 1 pound each. Our snow crab clusters are pre-cooked, flash-frozen, and packaged in clear plastic bags for easy freezer storage.
Frozen snow crab can be kept in a freezer for several months due to it's protective water glaze. To thaw snow crab, place it in the refrigerator a day prior to cooking it. Left-over snow crab should be kept under refrigeration and consumed within a couple of days.
Three pounds of snow crab will serve 2 to 3 people easily if you're serving with additional entrees. If you're having a crab feast or are serving a group of crab lovers, 1 & 1/2 pounds per person would be a good start.
Snow crab is low in fat and calories, yet high in protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron. It is also a good source of Folate and Magnesium, and a very good source of Vitamin B12, Phosphorus, Zinc, Copper and Selenium. On the other hand, snow crab is very high in cholesterol and sodium.

Commercial Fishing Season (Available Fresh):
Availability (Frozen):
Alaska's annual fishing quota for snow crab is usually much larger than that of other species - making snow crab one of the most abundant types of Alaska crab available. Alaska snow crab is sustainably-caught, and fishing is regulated by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. By law, only male crabs are retained, leaving the lucky females to remain in the Bering Sea and provide more tasty crab for all of us! Alaska's main commercial fishery for Snow crab starts in January and generally last for several months. It is considered one of the harshest crab fisheries due to the winter months that it takes place in.
Our Alaska Giant Snow Crab (Bairdi) is a product of the U.S.A.
